    • Preliminary results of the agricultural campaign show that national production is 14 percent above five years average. Moreover, income generating activities are normal, providing average income to poor households. This situation contributes to maintain Minimal food security outcomes (IPC phase 1) at least until May 2018.

    • Recent harvests and normal cereal imports are contributing to food availability. However, these harvests have not sufficiently reached consumer markets. Offer is globally below average and cereal prices will likely remain above last year and five years average levels.

    • Livestock exports towards Nigeria have increased due to a better exchange rate. Prices remain under five years average; however, significant increases have been observed compared to September (80 percent for bulls in Tamaské, Tahoua and 91 percent for rams in Tanout, Zinder), leading to an increase in purchase power and food access for pastors.

    • Humanitarian assistance contributes to maintain Stressed (IPC phase 2) acute food insecurity outcomes for displaced and poor local households in the Diffa region affected by security issues. The conflict has led households to adopt crisis strategies in pastoral and irrigated crops (pepper) areas to ensure their food needs, placing these areas in Crisis (IPC phase 3).
