The rainy season started in April or May in most regions. Cumulative precipitations are close to average and soil moisture is enough for germination and growth of crops. Land has already been prepared, and farmers can proceed to planting, including in low Nord-Ouest, high Artibonite and in the Nippes, that was subject to dry spells until the beginning of April.

Income sources for poorest households are recovering their usual level. These income sources are diverse and currently include agricultural labor locally and in the Dominican Republic, remittances from the diaspora and petty trade.

Markets are mostly supplied with imported goods. Prices are high and could increase due to the announced adjustment in fuel prices and exchanged rate depreciation.

Certain communes of the Nord-Est and Haut-Plateau remain in Crisis (IPC Phase 3), the rest of the country being in Minimal or Stress (IPC Phases 1 and 2). If the current campaign is successful, improving food availability and access, areas in crisis or stress could change phase.
