L'aide humanitaire reste essentielle pour sauver des vies dans le nord du Burkina Faso
  • Confrontés à un environnement sécuritaire volatile, les ménages pauvres dans les zones sous blocus dans la région du Sahel en général et dans la commune de Djibo en particulier, pourraient voir leur situation s’empirer si l’assistance n’est pas renforcée. D’abord réduite pendant la soudure de juillet à septembre à la suite de contraintes logistique et sécuritaire, l’assistance a été ensuite suspendue à Djibo en mi-octobre alors qu’elle constituait l’essentielle source de nourriture pour préserver des vies et empêcher que  le risque de Famine (Phase 5 de l’IPC) ne se produise à Djibo.
  • Le 7 décembre, le gouvernement a pu livrer environ 550 MT d'aide alimentaire d'urgence par escorte militaire, ce qui devrait permettre de couvrir au maximum 50 pour cent des besoins en kilocalories des bénéficiaires pour au moins 25 pour cent de la population pendant un mois. La nourriture sera probablement distribuée plus largement, ce qui réduira la taille des rations. Si cette aide permettra jusqu’en janvier de réduire les larges déficits de consommation et la proportion de personnes en Catastrophe (Phase 5 de l’IPC), elle n’est cependant pas suffisante pour empêcher l’insécurité aigue Urgence (Phase 4 de l’IPC). De janvier à mai, une augmentation de personnes en Catastrophe (Phase 5 de l'IPC) sera probable, car les autres sources de nourriture et de revenus resteront marginales ou diminueront encore jusqu'à devenir négligeables pendant la soudure. Les enfants et les adultes seront exposés à d'importants déficits de consommation alimentaire et à une malnutrition aiguë. Le risque de Famine (Phase 5 de l'IPC) existe si le conflit restreint les niveaux déjà faibles des cultures, de l'aide alimentaire et de l'approvisionnement des marchés plus que ce qui est actuellement prévu. 
  • L’accès alimentaire devrait se détériorer à partir de février dans les autres zones également plus touchées par l’insécurité et de forte présence de PDIs en raison des récoltes insuffisantes et des revenus faibles principalement issus de la pratique du maraichage pour faire face à des niveaux attendus de prix des denrées de base supérieurs à la moyenne. Dans les provinces du Loroum, Séno, Oudalan, et Yagha, dont plusieurs communes sont sous blocus, ce qui perturbent la plupart des activités de moyens d’existences, l’Urgence persistera au moins jusqu’en mai. Dans les provinces du Yatenga, Loroum, Gourma, Tapoa, Kompienga, Komondjari, Koulpélogo, Kossi, Sourou et des provinces de la région du Centre-Nord, les PDIs et ménages hôtes pauvres auront épuisé leurs stocks marginaux et dépendront plus du marché avec peu de revenu et resteront exposés à l’insécurité alimentaire aigue Crise (Phase 3 de l’IPC) entre février et mai.
